Crisis in Thinking & False Assumptions of an Incomplete Science - Gregg Braden - Red Ice Radio

Red Ice Radio - Gregg Braden - Crisis in Thinking & False Assumptions of an Incomplete Science
Gregg Braden is known as a pioneer in bridging science and spirituality. For more than 27 years, Gregg has explored high mountain villages, remote monasteries, and forgotten texts to merge their timeless secrets. His discoveries inspired books as: The God Code, The Divine Matrix, Fractal Time, and his newest, Deep Truth. In the first hour, we begin on 2012 and the Mayan perspective on cyclic changes. Gregg talks about how changes on our planet will force changes within ourselves. He shares what he believes will be a miracle manifested soon. Then, he explains how our modern worldview has brought us to a crisis in thinking which threatens our lives today. He says most of the world's problems stem from a worldview based upon the false assumptions of an incomplete science. We'll identify the five key false assumptions science has made and talk about new discoveries that can solve problems.

Ayahuasca Documentary - Stepping Into The Fire

Stepping Into The Fire
Stepping Into the Fire is the cinematic release that reaches into the ash of the bare bones of existence and asks the question "is humanity born to die, or is humanity born to live?" The film follows the true story of three successful individuals brought together by an ancestral medicine from South America that has become legendary for its miraculous and profound effects. Ayahuasca -- as the Amazonian brew is known -- is well known for its mental, physical and energetic healing properties. Stepping Into the Fire closely examines the life-changing effects Ayahuasca can have and illustrates why environment and health are so crucial to human success on a global scale.

Stepping Into the Fire features Roberto Velez, Donna Walsh, Bo and José Pineda Varges (a.k.a Maestro Mancoluto). The story begins with Roberto Velez -- a high-level New York Stock Exchange trader -- raised since adolescence in America, but ultimately of Peruvian descent. In the peak of his career, Velez finds himself seeking; unable to reconcile his material gains with the lack of direction and depth in his life. With nowhere else to turn, Velez scours Peru -- the land of his ancestors -- only to find Mancoluto, a first-level master shaman descended from one of the earliest civilizations in Amerindian history, Chavin. Mancoluto's expertise in natural health, particularly in the case of two ancestral medicines known as Ayahuasca and Huachuma, provides him a unique lens when treating Velez's predicament. Once this connection was made, countless other pieces start falling into place and a center for ancient Peruvian healing arts is quickly born.

Stepping Into the Fire is the beautifully woven tapestry of recent events that will leave you ignited and inspired to discover what it is in your life that keeps the fire alive.

Know your Drugs - Graham Hancock

Graham Hancock interview for Know Drugs
I do not believe that is our race, or our religion, our gender, our height, our looks, our job, our sexual orientation, or any other superficial characteristics that define us as human beings. Trumping all these by a country mile, it is our consciousness -- the most intimate, precious, sapient, unique and individual part of ourselves -- that is really the essence of who and what we are. Indeed, at the deepest level it is what we are -- to the extent that if we are not sovereign over our own consciousness then we cannot in any meaningful sense be sovereign over anything else either. For these and many other reasons I strongly oppose the "war on drugs" which, in my view, has created an engine of oppression and control in society by which the State claims the right, purportedly in our own interests, to regulate our very thoughts and inner experiences, and to trespass the sanctum of our consciousness.

I was recently interviewed by Cara Lavan of Knowdrugs.net on the subject of drugs, the drug war, personal freedom and cognitive liberty. The interview, which is embedded here, captures some of the key points that I feel have been neglected, and must be taken into account, if we are ever to get to grips with these issues in society.

Revisiting 2012 - Graham Hancock

Graham Hancock interviewed for New Dawn Magazine
See: http://www.grahamhancock.com/tours/lectures.php for details on Graham's upcoming speaking events in the US, Australia and the UK during October, November and December 2012.

As the Mayan Calendar comes to an end (most interpretations of the Mayan Long Count place this epic event on or near 21 December 2012), and over 17 years after he first published his seminal book on the subject, Fingerprints of the Gods: The Evidence of Earth's Lost Civilization, Graham Hancock speaks out about the state of our planet, consciousness, time travel, and what he has learned on his remarkable journey through life.

In this provocative and often poignant interview, Graham speaks passionately and at length on these, and many other emotionally charged subjects, such as Atlantis, the significance of Göbekli Tepe, and his own experience with marijuana, ayahuasca, and DMT.

The interview is by Andrew Gough, who met with Graham in July 2012 in Graham's home in the English West Country. A condensed version of the interview can be found in the September 2012 edition of New Dawn Magazine [http://www.newdawnmagazine.com/], and an extended version will be featured in The Heretic Magazine [http://thehereticmagazine.com/] (a new history and mystery magazine for which Andrew is Editor) on 1 November 2012, and still another version will be featured on Andrew's 'Arcadia' [http://www.andrewgough.com/] website soon after that.

Please note that the interview was originally conducted for New Dawn Magazine and was only recorded for purposes of converting Graham's audio commentary into text. We apologise any loss of sound quality and hope that you nevertheless enjoy the interview.

"Fingerprints of the Gods" author Graham Hancock explains why all politicians should drink Ayahuasca 10 times, the gruesome Aztec history behind his new book "Wargod", why he took Ibogaine to gain closure with his late father, and how Joe Rogan is just an all-around cool dude.

"You said that all politicians should be required to drink Ayahuasca 10 times before taking office." - Brian (00:46)

"All across the world we have a venal class of dishonest, self-serving bureaucrats who are using the power we give them to oppose themselves upon us." - Graham (01:52)

"You have to understand that we've had more than 40 years now of massively financed propaganda called the 'War on Drugs'." - Graham (03:10)

"In a way it's a very Orwellian world where language is being used against us. It's almost impossible to approach the issue of 'drugs' without immediately linking it to the notion of 'abuse.'" - Graham (04:47)

"Do we as adults have the right to make decisions about what we put in our own bodies and what we experience with our own consciousness without reference to the powers of the state or must we seek permission from the state in order to explore our own consciousness?" - Graham (05:17)

"I find again and again you get these instant knee-jerk reactions. 'Oh they're talking about a drug, this isn't be for me. They must be dirty people.'" - Graham (08:37)

"I don't believe I would have written that book if I hadn't had this nudge from this curious plant ally called cannabis." - Graham (13:37)

"I don't do things by half-measures. I was smoking a very great deal of cannabis for 24 years." - Graham (14:10)

"During those Ayahuasca sessions whatever intelligence spoke to me directly and made it very clear to me that my journey with Cannabis had come to an end." - Graham (15:33)

"It's astonishing that one plant intervened to stop me working with another plant." - Graham (19:20)

"There are all kinds of ways to challenge ourselves. Some people do it by climbing a mountain or scuba diving. The most profound and challenging ordeals is to drink Ayahuasca. It is in a way the ultimate adventure." - Graham (24:06)

"I want to find out about your new book. Can you talk about it?" - Brian (45:30)

"There is very clear documentation of the sacrifice of 80,000 human beings over the course of 4 days so the entire city was filled with human blood." - Graham (49:58)

"The demonic realm got involved in the human world and said. 'We've made things really bad in Mexico already, how can we make things worse?" - Graham (51:20)

"The 22yr old Graham Hancock had an awful lot to learn." - Graham (59:42)

"Iboga is the root bark of a bush that grows in Central Africa." - Graham (1:00:53)

"It's a sacred duty to see a loved one through the transition and it's also a tremendous gift that the loved one gives to us, the opportunity to learn from it." - Graham (1:05:23)

"The one thing I'm glad about is that I did have the opportunity to tell my Dad that I loved him." - Graham (1:06:58)

"If you were really a tough guy you'd take Iboga and Ayahuasca at the same time." - Nic (01:08:28)

"The active ingredient in Ayahuasca is Dimethyltryptamine. I've done some work with pure D.M.T. as well, I've done 11 journeys." - Graham (01:08:48)

"Did you get stoned with Joe?" - Nic (01:17:10)

"Joe is such a lovely, wonderful human being with an incredibly open and inquiring mind and just very very gentle and very very intelligent and I definitely got high on the conversation." - Graham (01:17:55)

"I've really enjoyed this conversation, time has really flown, it reminded me of my conversation with Joe Rogan. Nice, relaxing, positive, enjoyable feeling." - Graham (01:20:40)

Spiritual Plants - Ayahuasca

Luis Eduardo Luna runs interdisciplinary seminars at his Research Center in Brazil: http://www.wasiwaska.org/

See also his recent article ('Sacred plants and Amerindian epistemology'):
http://www.grahamhancock.com/forum/LunaLE2.php

This film, by Luis Eduardo Luna, is one of the very first films -if not the first- documenting ayahuasca among mestizo population of the Peruvian Amazon. It was part of Luna's field work carried out in the Iquitos area
during July and August 1981, concentrated on the practices of Don Emilio Andrade Gomez, a "vegetalista" living 12 km from the city. The film Don Emilio and his Little Doctors (1982) was made during that time. It is a complement to Luna's doctoral dissertation "Vegetalismo. Shamanism Among the Mestizo Population of the Peruvian Amazon", published in Stockholm in 1986.

Don Emilio was born in Iquitos in 1918. When he was 14 years old, and while working in the Amazon river, near the mouth of the Napo river, he took ayahuasca for the first time. He did it in order to curarse, a term that implies the cleansing and strengthening of the body. When he took ayahuasca for the fifth time, while keeping to the prescribed diet imposed by his teacher, an old man with a flute and a drum appeared in his visions to teach him icaros, magic melodies.

Graham Hancock questions Richard Dawkins on psychedelics and challenging his world view
Dr Richard Dawkins, author of books such as The Selfish Gene (http://amzn.to/NjmDZ8) and The God Delusion (http://amzn.to/NdfGdY), is famous for his materialist views about the nature of reality and his belief that "the supernatural... can never offer us a true explanation of the things we see in the world and the universe around us." On 3 November 2011, Dr Dawkins visited the British city of Bath to promote his new book The Magic of Reality (http://amzn.to/NdfMm5) and gave a reading at the Bath Central Library. In the Q&A session following the reading Graham Hancock, author of books such as Fingerprints of the Gods (http://amzn.to/x7PNY3), Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind (http://amzn.to/thGLVP), and Entangled (http://amzn.to/sKUGuR), pointed out to Dr Dawkins that many traditional hunter-gather cultures believe there are other realities -- spirit worlds and so on and so forth -- and concrete techniques, such as the use of psychoactive plants, to access them. "As a scientist," Hancock asked, "have you ever seriously engaged such techniques to have first-hand experience of what they're talking about, and perhaps even to challenge your own concept of what is real?"

In view of Dr Dawkins' influence and importance as a shaper of public opinion his reply, given before an audience of several hundred, is a matter of public record and public interest and shows him to be more open-minded than many of his critics might allege.

2012, Crop circles, Mayan Calendar, Kali Yuga, Extraterrestrials, Measuring Time, and Psychedelics - Daniel Pinchbeck

In this 2005 talk from Burning Man, Daniel Pinchbeck (author of Breaking Open the Head and 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl) explores the thesis of a "Dimensional Shift", currently underway and culminating in 2012, the end-date of the Mayan Calendar. He discusses crop circles, extraterrestrials, the need for a new measure of time, and much more. Daniel predicts the collapse of the current socioeconomic order in 2008 and discusses what we can look forward to in 2009.

Daniel Pinchbeck is currently Editorial Director of 'Reality Sandwich' ...a web magazine for this time of intense transformation. http://www.realitysandwich.com/blog/daniel_pinchbeck

Truth about MK ULTRA - Mind Control

Mind control (also known as brainwashing, coercive persuasion, mind abuse, thought control, or thought reform) refers to a process in which a group or individual "systematically uses unethically manipulative methods to persuade others to conform to the wishes of the manipulator(s), often to the detriment of the person being manipulated." The term has been applied to any tactic, psychological or otherwise, which can be seen as subverting an individual's sense of control over their own thinking, behavior, emotions or decision making.

Theories of brainwashing and of mind control were originally developed to explain how totalitarian regimes appeared to succeed in systematically indoctrinating prisoners of war through propaganda and torture techniques. These theories were later expanded and modified, by psychologists including Margaret Singer, to explain a wider range of phenomena, especially conversions to new religious movements (NRMs). A third-generation theory proposed by Ben Zablocki focused on the utilization of mind control to retain members of NRMs and cults to convert them to a new religion. The suggestion that NRMs use mind control techniques has resulted in scientific and legal controversy. Neither the American Psychological Association nor the American Sociological Association have found any scientific merit in such theories.

Project MKULTRA, or MK-ULTRA, was the code name for a covert, illegal CIA human research program, run by the Office of Scientific Intelligence. This official U.S. government program began in the early 1950s, continuing at least through the late 1960s, and it used U.S. and Canadian citizens as its test subjects.

Donald Ewen Cameron (24 December 1901--8 September 1967) was a twentieth-century Scottish-American psychiatrist. Cameron was involved in Project MKULTRA, United States Central Intelligence Agency's research on torture and mind control.

Cameron lived and worked in Albany, New York, and was involved in experiments in Canada for Project MKULTRA, a United States based CIA-directed mind control program which eventually led to the publication of the KUBARK Counterintelligence Interrogation manual. He is unrelated to another CIA psychiatrist Alan Cameron, who helped pioneer psychological profiling of world leaders during the 1970s.

Naomi Klein states in her book The Shock Doctrine that Cameron's research and his contribution to the MKUltra project was actually not about mind control and brainwashing, but about designing "a scientifically based system for extracting information from 'resistant sources.' In other words, torture...Stripped of its bizarre excesses, Dr. Cameron's experiments, building upon Donald O. Hebb's earlier breakthrough, laid the scientific foundation for the CIA's two-stage psychological torture method."

Mind control in popular culture: * The communal brainwashing of an entire model community via subliminal messages is a central theme in the 2009 novel Candor by Pam Bachorz. * In the novel A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, the protagonist undergoes a scientific re-education process called the "Ludovico technique" in an attempt to remove his violent tendencies. * In his 1999 science fictin novel A Deepness in the Sky, Vernor Vinge introduces the themes of "mindrot" and controlled "Focus" later eplored in his 2006 novel. * In the novel Night of the Hawk by Dale Brown, the Soviets capture and brainwash U.S. Air Force Lieutenant David Luger, transforming him into the Russian scientist Ivan Ozerov. * In George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (published in 1949 before the popularization of the term "brainwashing"), the fictional totalitarian government of Oceania uses brainwashing-style techniques to erase nonconformist thought and rebellious personalities. * Vernor Vinge speculates on the application of technology to achieve brainwashing in his 2006 science fiction novel, Rainbows End (ISBN 0-312-85684-9), portraying separately the dangers of JITT (Just-in-time training) and the specter of YGBM (You gotta believe me).

Brainwashing became a common trope of films, television and games in the late twentieth century. It was a convenient means of introducing changes in the behavior of characters and a device for raising tension and audience uncertainty in the climate of Cold War and outbreaks of terrorism. * The film Brazil, depicts a fascist government similar to that in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. The government controls a totalitarian society subconsciously by manipulation, intending to remain in control of the population. * Derren Brown: Mind Control (1999-2000), a television show on Channel 4.

Brice Taylor is the highest level, healed survivor of MKULTRA trauma-based mind control, ever to go public. Beginning in 1985, her healing journey within allowed her to discover the truth that set her free, indeed a truth that can set us all free! Barbara Hartwell is a survivor of the CIA's MKULTRA and Phoenix Project. She was utilized for many years as a mind controlled operative and professional CIA asset. Ted Gunderson has endorsed her credibility and documented the harassment and political persecution which followed the breaking of her programming and her refusal to allow the CIA to get returns on their "investment". Gene "Chip" Tatum, during his twenty two years as a deep cover CIA and DIA operative, aw or participated in a remarkable series of covert operations. Foremost in his mind are the years 1986-92, when he operated for a group he called Pegasus. This group operated on behalf of the US and other governments undertaking tasks that ranged from narcotic smuggling to assassinations. In The Light of Nature - Terrence Mckenna

The Light In Nature (1988) Esalen

Art: Blaine Garrett, Joe Lipscomb & Charles Denton

"The creative act is a letting down of the net of human imagination into the ocean of chaos on which we are suspended, and the attempt to bring out of it ideas.

It is the night sea journey, the lone fisherman on a tropical sea with his nets, and you let these nets down - sometimes, something tears through them that leaves them in shreds and you just row for shore, and put your head under your bed and pray.

At other times what slips through are the minutiae, the minnows of this ichthyological metaphor of idea chasing.
But, sometimes, you can actually bring home something that is food, food for the human community that we can sustain ourselves on and go forward."
~ Terence McKenna

Because the fact is, what blinds us to the presence of alien intelligence is linguistic and cultural bias operating on ourselves. The world which we perceive is a tiny fraction of the world which we can perceive, which is a tiny fraction of the perceivable world, you see. We operate on a very narrow slice based on cultural conventions. So the important thing, if synergizing progress is the notion to be maximized (and I think it's the notion to be maximized), is to try and locate the blind spot in the culture — the place where the culture isn't looking, because it dare not — because if it were to look there, its previous values would dissolve, you see. For Western Civilization that place is the psychedelic experience as it emerges out of nature. "Understanding and Imagination in the Light of Nature"

Ancient Art, Shamans, Mushrooms, Ayahuasca, and Aliens - Graham Hancock

Graham Hancock - Supernatural
The evolution of modern humans has taken more than five million years but until less than 50,000 years ago we had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no creative and innovative thinking, and quite possibly no language. Then, a dramatic and electrifying change overtook our ancestors in every part of the globe, and all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves today appeared suddenly, already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers. Scientists describe this change as “the greatest riddle in human history”.

The first art of mankind, in the painted caves and rock-shelters of southwest Europe and South Africa, dates back to the time of the great change. Why do these ancient paintings, tens of thousands of years old, depict beings of a kind that are never found in nature – strange and eerie hybrids with the heads of animals and the bodies of humans?

In the depths of the Amazon rainforest tribal shamans drink a powerful hallucinogenic brew called Ayahuasca (“the vine of souls”) in order to induce visions. When they return to normal consciousness, after experiencing what they believe is out-of-body travel in the spirit world, they make paintings of the “intelligent beings” they have encountered. Why are many of these beings also depicted as uncanny hybrids with the heads of animals or serpents and the bodies of humans? And why do the shamans say that they have taught them everything they know about how to live in the jungle, and about the medicinal value of rainforest plants?

Why do Western lab volunteers, placed experimentally under the influence of hallucinogens such as DMT, psilocybin, mescaline and LSD, report visionary encounters with “beings” in the form of animal-human hybrids – beings identical to those the Amazonian shamans claim to meet and to those painted by our ancestors in the prehistoric caves?

What is the significance of the astonishing similarities between the entities known as “aliens”, ET’s” or “greys” in modern popular culture, the entities known as “fairies”, “elves” and “goblins” in the Middle Ages, and the entities that shamans in surviving tribal cultures know as “ghosts”, “gods” and “spirits”? Why are such figures depicted in prehistoric art as far afield as Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia?

Why have eminent scientists at the cutting edge of consciousness research, especially those who study the ways that hallucinogens work in the brain, recently begun to question long-established theories about the nature of reality? Why are some now even ready to consider the possibility, long ago embraced by shamans, that, far from being “false perceptions”, what we see in the strange imagery and experiences of hallucinations may be real perceptions of other “dimensions” and the beings inhabiting them?

Why did Nobel Prize-winner Francis Crick keep concealed until his death the astonishing circumstances under which he first “saw” the double-helix structure of DNA? And why did he become convinced that the DNA molecule did not evolve naturally upon this planet but was sent here in bacteria by an alien civilisation?
Why does the 97 per cent of DNA that scientists do not understand – so-called “junk DNA” – contain chemical “sequences” arranged in patterns and frequencies that are otherwise only found in the deep coding of all human languages?

Could the “supernaturals” first depicted in the painted caves and rock shelters – and still accessible to us today in altered states of consciousness – be the ancient teachers of mankind? Could it be they who first ushered us into the full birthright of our humanity? And could it be that human evolution is not just the “blind”, “meaningless” “natural” process that Darwin identified, but something else, more purposive and intelligent, that we have barely even begun to understand?

These are some of the mysteries at the heart of the quest Hancock unfolds in the pages of his new book Supernatural – a quest that takes him on a journey of adventure and detection from the depths of the Amazon rainforest, to the stunningly beautiful painted caves of prehistoric Europe, and to ancient painted rock-shelters in the remote mountains of South Africa. This is a book of page-turning story-telling with electrifying descriptions of the daunting journey that Hancock must undertake as he drinks hallucinogens with tribal shamans in the Amazon and self-experiments with DMT, psilocybin and the African visionary drug known as Iboga – “the plant that enables men to see the dead.” But Supernatural also has an exciting basis in the latest science – much of it so far largely unknown to the general public. Thus, although the book takes readers into unusual and daring areas of enquiry, and investigates extraordinary possibilities about human origins, and about the nature of consciousness and of reality, the argument is underpinned throughout by the discoveries and views of eminent scientists doing cutting-edge research.

Supernatural was published in hardback in the UK on 6 October 2005 and in the US on 1 September 2006. The UK hardback is now out of print but paperbacks are available at £8.99 in all good bookshops from 5 October 2006 and can be purchased direct from Amazon.co.uk, see here. Supernatural is also available in Canada from Amazon.ca, see here, and in the US from Amazon.com, see here. Graham Hancock will be on tour in the United States with an illustrated talk about the controversial subject matter of the book in October/November 2006 Details of the lecture schedule will be published and updated here.

Mystical Experience & Spiritual Scripture

Rick Strassman speaks on Mystical Experience & Spiritual Scripture
SEPTEMBER 24-26, 2010 - NEW YORK CITY

Rick Strassman at the HORIZONS PERSPECTIVES ON PSYCHEDELICS. "A Western Perspective of the Psychedelic Experience and the Old Testament" for which he gives good evidence, understands and comprehends the psychedelic experience that it is not just a 60's thing (although we are so grateful for those days too!) but found where we somehow least expect it, that old Bible itself! (and he addresses the prejudice most of us including himself had/have about it). Indeed it may even be the purpose of The Book.....Ancient Hebrew Phenomenon and the psychedelic experience. Learn the miracle of how he got this funding and approval from the DEA, the FDA and NIH, NIDA

Not sure I'm into what Strassman is selling here. Now I know he basically admitted to accepting funding from Masons. Now he is trying pitch some weird religious agenda with a psychedelic twist. :( Kind of a bummer. Phalacies beliefs and prophecies. We all know how horrible that whole bloodline has been for planet earth. I'll have to read the new book. Much love -Pokets

Modern Civilization, Culture, Science, Psychedelic, Connections and Duality - Terence Mckenna

This World ...and Its Double
- 11 September 1993

"It seems to me that culture, at least this culture, is a shabby lie."

In this lecture, Terence McKenna talks about the tragic situation we humans have placed ourselves in, and ways in which the boundary dissolution effects of psychedelic medicines can possibly save our species from what appears to be a certain extinction. "What the psychedelic experience does, really, is it stretches the envelope of the imaginable." "Culture denies experience."

"We live at the end of a thousand year binge on the philosophical position known as materialism, in its many guises. And the basic message of materialism is that world is what it appears to be, a thing composed of matter, and pretty much confined to its surface."

"We're literally at the end of our rope. Reason, and science, and the practice of unbridled capitalism have not delivered us into an angelic realm."

"We're in, essentially, a tragic situation. A tragic situation is a catastrophe when you know it."

"All the boundaries we put up to keep ourselves from feeling our circumstance are dissolved [when using psychedelics]. And boundary dissolution is the most threatening activity that can go on in a society. Government institutions become very nervous when people begin to talk to each other. The whole name of the Western game is to create boundaries and maintain them."

"The drugs that Western society has traditionally favored have either been drugs which maintain boundaries or drugs which promote mindless, repetitious physical activity on the assembly line, in the slave galley, on the slave-driven agricultural projects, in the corporate office, whatever it is."

"Madness, basically, up until the level of physical violence, means you are behaving in a way which makes me feel uncomfortable, therefore there is something wrong with you."

"I think of history as a kind of mass psychedelic experience, and the drug is technology."

"History is characterized by its brevity, for one thing. We have packed more change into the last 10,000 years than the billion years which preceded it. And yet, as entities, as animals, meat, we have not changed at all in 10,000 years."

"What psychedelics do, and I think this isn't too challenge-able, is they catalyze imagination. They drive you to think what you would not think otherwise. Well, notice that the enterprise of human history is nothing more than the fallout created by strange ideas."

"The ultimate boundary dissolution is the dissolution of ego." "The key, on one level, to maintaining the dominance hierarchy is monogamous pair bonding. That's where it begins."

"We have the tools that would allow us to sculpt paradise, but we have the reflexes and value systems of anthropoid apes of some sort. . . . You don't get serial killers in the chipmunk population."

For approximately 500 years [sciences] argument for its pre-eminence was the beautiful toys that it could create: aircraft, railroads, global economies, television, spacecraft. But that is a fool's argument for truth! I mean, that's after all how a medicine show operates, you know: the juggler is so good, the medicine must be even better! This is not an entirely rational way to proceed.
