Truth about Sugar, Addiction, Artificial Sweeteners, Obesity, and Brain/Neural Activity

Overview
Source from: Live Strong
Sugar comes in a variety forms--sucrose, fructose, glucose, high fructose corn syrup, turbinado, white and brown sugar. If you're reading food labels, it can be confusing to determine where it comes from and how to tell the difference between them. Sucrose and fructose sound the same, and are both sweeteners.

About Sugar
Sugar is a carbohydrate that occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables. It's obtained from sugar beets and cane sugar through a process that extracts the liquid from the plants, and then is filtered and concentrated into a crystalized form. Added sugar is any sweetener that's added to a food product.

Sucrose
Sucrose is white table sugar, made up of glucose and fructose. This "regular" sugar comes in fine, superfine, coarse, powdered, fruit, confectioners and baker's sugar; it's broadly known as granulated sugar. The baker's, fine and ultrafine sugar are used in baking. The fruit sugar is used in gelatin and dry mixes. The confectioners and powdered sugar is ground into a smooth powder for use in frosting and whipping cream.

Fructose
Fructose is a sugar found in fruit, honey and fruit juice. Together with glucose, it makes up sucrose. You can buy it in a similar form as sucrose at a supermarket for cooking and baking. Fructose is much sweeter than sucrose, so you can use less to achieve the same amount of sweetness with fewer calories. Fructose does not cause a significant change in blood sugar levels, as sucrose does.

High-Fructose Corn Syrup
High-fructose corn syrup is made from the glucose found in corn starch. The process of changing glucose to fructose is more economical than using sugar. When this is added to the wide variety of packaged foods available in our supermarkets, it helps increase their shelf life.

Artificial Sweetener
A sugar substitute is a food additive that duplicates the effect of sugar in taste, usually with less food energy. An important class of sugar substitutes are known as high-intensity sweeteners. These are compounds with many times the sweetness of sucrose, common table sugar. As a result, much less sweetener is required and energy contribution is often negligible. The sensation of sweetness caused by these compounds (the "sweetness profile") is sometimes notably different from sucrose, so they are often used in complex mixtures that achieve the most natural sweet sensation.

In the United States, six intensely-sweet sugar substitutes have been approved for use. They are stevia, aspartame, sucralose, neotame, acesulfame potassium, and saccharin. There is some ongoing controversy over whether artificial sweetener usage poses health risks. The US Food and Drug Administration regulates artificial sweeteners as food additives

Reading Labels
The Food and Drug Administration requires sucrose be listed in the ingredients on a food label by its common name, sugar. Fructose, glucose, high-fructose corn syrup and other sweeteners aren't put into that same category. The ingredients are listed in descending order by amount, and the label does not distinguish between sugars that naturally occur in food and those that are added.

Collectivism, Truth of The Extreme Left & Right - G. Edward Griffin

G. Edward Griffin - The Collectivist Conspiracy
In this exclusive 80 minute video interview, legendary conspiracy author G. Edward Griffin explains how his research, which spans no less than 5 decades, has revealed a banking elite obsessed with enforcing a world government under a collectivist model that will crush individualism and eventually institute martial law as a response to the inevitable backlash that will be generated as a result of a fundamental re-shaping of society.

Griffin discusses the similarities between the extreme left and the extreme right in the false political paradigm and how this highlights a recurring theme - collectivism. Collectivism is the opposite of individualism and believes that the interests of the individual must be sacrificed for the greater good of the greater number, explains Griffin, uniting the doctrines of communism and fascism. Both the Republican and Democrat parties in the United States are committed to advancing collectivism and this is why the same policies are followed no matter who is voted in to the White House.

"All collectivist systems eventually deteriorate into a police state because that's the only way you can hold it together," warns Griffin.

Carroll Quigley, Georgetown University Professor and mentor to former president Bill Clinton, explained in his books Tragedy and Hope and The Anglo-American Establishment, how the elite maintained a silent dictatorship while fooling people into thinking they had political freedom, by creating squabbles between the two parties in terms of slogans and leadership, while all the time controlling both from the top down and pursuing the same agenda. Griffin documents how the Tea Party, after its beginnings as a grass roots movement, was later hijacked by the Republicans through the likes of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck.

Pointing out how Republicans and Democrats agree on the most important topics, such as US foreign policy, endless wars in the Middle East, and the dominance of the private banking system over the economy, Griffin lays out how the left-right hoax is used to steer the destiny of America.

Griffin also talks at length on a myriad of other important subjects, such as the move towards a Chinese-style censored Internet, the demonization of the John Birch Society as a racist extremist group, the Hegelian dialectic, the power of tax-exempt foundations and the Council on Foreign Relations, the movement towards world government, and the question of whether the elite are really worried about the growing awareness of their agenda amongst Americans.

Open Prison System - Greenland

Open Prison - Greenland
Watch on: Youtube

Film By SBS Distributed By Journeyman Pictures September 2011
Far from locking up prisoners and throwing away the key, Greenland's authorities give inmates the keys to their own cells. Is this a revolutionary approach to crime control, or just irresponsible?  "When an inmate escapes, I would say 1 or 2 days later he is back, knocking at the door saying, 'hello, i'm back', maybe to see their friends. And we say hello and put them in 7 days isolation. They know the rules." The treatment of these prisoners is extremely liberal; after a continental breakfast they can go out to work, or maybe for a hike, or they're armed with rifles and taken hunting. In a country with a tiny, close-knit community they claim a unique approach to sentencing is necessary, but it isn't popular with everyone. "I have heard many times from victims, 'I just met the man who raped me'". Without full community support, is this a re-integration scheme or a disaster waiting to happen?

In The Light of Nature - Terrence Mckenna

The Light In Nature (1988) Esalen

Art: Blaine Garrett, Joe Lipscomb & Charles Denton

"The creative act is a letting down of the net of human imagination into the ocean of chaos on which we are suspended, and the attempt to bring out of it ideas.

It is the night sea journey, the lone fisherman on a tropical sea with his nets, and you let these nets down - sometimes, something tears through them that leaves them in shreds and you just row for shore, and put your head under your bed and pray.

At other times what slips through are the minutiae, the minnows of this ichthyological metaphor of idea chasing.
But, sometimes, you can actually bring home something that is food, food for the human community that we can sustain ourselves on and go forward."

Because the fact is, what blinds us to the presence of alien intelligence is linguistic and cultural bias operating on ourselves. The world which we perceive is a tiny fraction of the world which we can perceive, which is a tiny fraction of the perceivable world, you see. We operate on a very narrow slice based on cultural conventions. So the important thing, if synergizing progress is the notion to be maximized (and I think it's the notion to be maximized), is to try and locate the blind spot in the culture — the place where the culture isn't looking, because it dare not — because if it were to look there, its previous values would dissolve, you see. For Western Civilization that place is the psychedelic experience as it emerges out of nature. "Understanding and Imagination in the Light of Nature"
