Messi and Maradona - Argentina Football Heros

Lionel Andrés Messi (born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine footballer who plays for La Liga club FC Barcelona and is the current captain of the Argentina national team, playing mainly as a forward. He is currently Barcelona's all-time top scorer in all official club competitions, excluding friendlies.

By the age of 21, Messi had received Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year nominations. The following year in 2009 he won both the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year, and won the inaugural FIFA Ballon d'Or in 2010 and 2011. He also won the 2010–11 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award. Messi is the fourth football player to win three Ballons d'Or, after Johan Cruyff, Michel Platini and Marco van Basten and the second player to win three consecutive Ballons d'Or, after Michel Platini. His playing style and small stature have drawn comparisons to Diego Maradona, who himself declared Messi as his "successor".

Messi has won five La Ligas, two Copas del Rey, five Supercopas de España, three Champions Leagues, two Super Cups and two Club World Cups. In 2012, Messi made UEFA Champions League history by becoming the first player to score five goals in one match, in a 7–1 win against Bayer Leverkusen. With two goals in the next round against Milan, he matched José Altafini's record of 14 goals in a single Champions League season. He also became the first player to top-score in four successive Champions League campaigns. He set the world record for most goals scored in a season during the 2011–12 season, with 73 goals. In the same season, he set the current goalscoring record in a single La Liga season, scoring 50 goals.

Messi was the top scorer of the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship with six goals. In 2006, he became the youngest Argentine to play in the FIFA World Cup and he won a runners-up medal at the Copa América tournament the following year, in which he was elected young player of the tournament. In 2008, he won his first international honour, an Olympic gold medal, with the Argentina Olympic football team. Sportspro has rated Lionel Messi as the 3rd most

Lionel Messi World's Greatest Player Documentary

Diego Armando Maradona (born 30 October 1960) is an Argentine football manager and former player. Many experts, football critics, former players, current players and football fans in general consider Maradona to be the greatest football player of all time. He won FIFA Player of the Century award which was to be decided by votes on their official website, their official magazine and a grand jury.

He is the only player in football history who set world-record contract fees twice. The first, when he was transferred to Barcelona for a then world record £5m and the second, when he was transferred to Napoli for another record fee £6.9m. Over the course of his professional club career Maradona played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell's Old Boys. In his international career, playing for Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals.

He played in four FIFA World Cup tournaments, including the 1986 tournament, where he captained Argentina and led them to their victory over West Germany in the final, winning the Golden Ball award as the tournament's best player. In that same tournament's quarterfinal round, he scored both goals in a 2–1 victory over England that entered football history, though for two different reasons. The first goal was via an unpenalized handball known as the "Hand of God", while the second goal followed a 60 m (66 yd) dribble past five England players, voted "The Goal of the Century" by FIFA.com voters in 2002.

Maradona is considered one of the sport's most controversial and newsworthy figures. He was suspended from football for 15 months in 1991 after failing a drug test, for cocaine, in Italy, and he was sent home from the 1994 World Cup in the USA after testing positive for ephedrine. After retiring from playing on his 37th birthday in 1997, he gained weight, suffered ill health and the effects of cocaine use. In 2005, a stomach stapling operation helped control his weight gain, and he overcame his cocaine addiction. His outspoken manners have sometimes put him at odds with journalists and sport executives. Although he had little managerial experience, he became head coach of the Argentina national team in November 2008, and held the job for eighteen months, until his contract expired after the 2010 World Cup.

2012 London Olympic Mascots, Logo, and Stadium

THE controversial 2012 London Olympics logo was rocked by another blow last night ? after it was ruled too dangerous to view on-screen.

An animated version of the symbol used on TV and the internet had to be dropped because it could trigger fits in thousands of people.

The £400,000 logo, a graffiti-style spelling of 2012 in shades of pink, blue, green and orange, was branded “hideous” when it was launched on Monday.

And Olympics bosses were left squirming with embarrassment after an epilepsy group reported 12 cases of people collapsing through looking at it.

Epilepsy Action warned that 23,000 mainly young people in the UK were at risk from the TV and internet version.

They suffer from the photosensitive form of epilepsy and flickering images can trigger fits.

It is estimated there are 2.5million people worldwide with the condition ? which could have left the Olympic Organising Committee facing massive injury lawsuits.

Epilepsy Action spokeswoman Ingrid Burns said: “The logo was not safe for people with photosensitive epilepsy.

“Within hours of it being launched we received 12 reports of people suffering seizures.

“This is extremely serious. Young people up to the age of about 19 are most at risk ? and they are the logo’s main target group.” Leading epilepsy expert Professor Graham Harding said: “I can’t imagine how this slipped through.

“Thousands of people could have been affected. It’s serious and has to be corrected.”

London Mayor Ken Livingstone said: “If you employ someone to design a car and it kills you, you’re pretty unhappy about that. If you employ someone to design a logo for you and they haven’t done a basic health check you have to ask what they do for their money.”

The logo was created by international design agency Wolff Olins, who also came up with BT’s “wistful piper” symbol.

A spokesman for the Olympic Committee said: “The issue was not with the logo but a piece of animation that was used during the launch.

“We have been made aware of the concerns and have removed the material from our website. It will be re-edited and the original footage never shown again.”

More than 27,000 people had last night signed a petition calling for the logo to be scrapped altogether.

They want it replaced with either a new design or the old design used for London’s bid to stage the Olympics. Jonathan Ellis, who launched the petition on website Gopetition.com, said: “It is an embarrassment and portrays our country in the worst possible way. We need to get this terrible logo dropped.”

London 2012 committee boss Lord Seb Coe defended the design, saying: “It won’t be to be everybody’s taste immediately, but it’s a brand we believe can be hard working.”

Sun Doctor CAROL COOPER said: “Lights flashing 20 times a second are most likely to trigger fits but any between four and 59 times can do it.

“Rapid colour changes are added risk. The logo could have caused plenty of mischief.”

Defiant Mourinho - 'I think I'm still special'

The Portuguese, who departed Stamford Bridge by mutual agreement last week, made his now famous proclamation upon his arrival in England and believes he proved himself to be just that during his three-year stay.

The Blues enjoyed the most successful period in their history under Mourinho's stewardship, the former Porto manager leading them to their first league title in 50 years in his first season in charge before repeating the feat the following campaign.

'I took a chance in saying that I was special, but I think there are now a lot of people who would sign up to that,' Mourinho told Portuguese newspaper Maisfutebol.

'I think I'm still special. I achieved good things and it was a fantastic period in my career. I'll try to forget the bad things and remember the good ones, which are endless.'

During Mourinho's reign Chelsea were never beaten on home soil in any of their 42 home league matches and Blues' fans chanted their former manager's name during their defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Who the MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i got to say it... Henry is the best player in the world (in game mode)....

Where ever he's in (Barca or Arsenal).... We'll kick ass Henry vs Any team or country

Thierry Daniel Henry, (born 17 August 1977 in Paris, France) is a French football player. Renowned for his pace, he plays as a striker for the France national team and FC Barcelona.
Henry was born and brought up in the tough neighbourhood of Les Ulis, Essonne, where as a youngster he played for an array of local sides and showed great promise as a goal scorer. He joined Arsenal for a fee of £10.5 million in 1999.

It was at Arsenal that Henry made his name as a top footballer. Initially, he struggled in the Premiership, but he soon emerged as Arsenal's top goal scorer in almost his every season there. Long-time mentor and coach Arsene Wenger's conversion of Henry into a prolific striker made him Arsenal's all-time leading scorer with over 200 goals. With the Gunners, Henry won two league titles and three FA Cups. He was also twice nominated for the FIFA World Player of the Year and twice received the Barclays Premiership player of the season award. Henry spent his final two seasons with Arsenal as club captain, leading them to the UEFA Champions League final in 2006. In June 2007, after eight years in an Arsenal shirt, the French striker transferred to FC Barcelona for a fee of £16.1 million.
