Credo Mutwa heavily criticizes Michael Tellinger, Sept 2010
This previously unpublished video was recorded at Credo Mutwa's South African home on 3 September, 2010, when David Icke and I went to visit the Great Zulu Shaman and Historian for three weeks.
The video records Credo critiquing Michael Tellinger's second book, TEMPLES OF THE AFRICAN GODS.
Credo picks up the book, and says: "Here's something that really makes me angry." And he continues, in style, from there.
Credo concludes: "The world has got to know — before Africa is destroyed,as she is in the process of being destroyed — the world has got to know, what we know."
I never released the video at the time, as Credo takes Michael Tellinger, and his work, apart.
The video is funny, evocative, fascinating, compelling and powerful. This is Credo at his very best.
It's totally unedited — inasmuch as there are some interruptions, dogs barking, children playing, a radio in the background... this is Credo's home. It's totally real. As was always the case when talking with Credo, we never knew what he was going to say or do next, or what might happen around us.
Here's an important note. I have no intention to make Michael Tellinger look bad. But I do think that this wonderful, unpublished testimony to Credo should now see the light of day.
Note: here's an interesting little backstory to this release. I had been considering publishing it after all this time, after I had found all the raw footage together with a low quality export I had made a while back for a few people to see. Then, out of the blue, came this, from Alfred Webre:

Hi, Mel:
This morning when I arrived at Credo's place I found him sitting outside with Michael Tellinger's TEMPLES OF THE AFRICAN GODS in his hand. He was exercised and irritated, and started giving a critique of all Michael's work on Adam's Calendar - going through the images in the book and explaining how Michael had got many things all wrong and that he had no idea about African culture.
He went into quite some fascinating detail - and when I asked him if he'd spoken with Michael about this, he replied (this is a paraphrase from memory- I have this all on camera): "Tellinger doesn't want to listen to me - he only wants to use my name."
Whatever really happened or didn't happen, there's clearly an immense wealth of accurate information about Adam's Calendar that Credo possesses which Michael (for whatever reason) has not included in his book, going instead for interpretations which Credo insists are just plain wrong.
Credo was upset: "Someone has to correct this," he said over and over again.
As you know, I've never met Michael, been to Adam's Calendar, or even read that book - but I absolutely trust Credo on this. You have to be with him for only 10 minutes to realize that he's a walking encyclopedia of African history, symbology, mythology and legend and cannot be swept aside.
Credo stated, in fairness, when Michael was right. The impression I got from Credo was that the book is 50% right and 50% wrong. For Credo, one of the few remaining guardians of traditional African history and mythology, this is highly upsetting and almost a desecration of all that he feels he's trying to stand for.
These discrepancies are problematic and are hard to explain. But they're real. I have this whole episode on camera.

Jesse Ventura was born in 1951 in Minneapolis. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he joined the Special Forces and served as a UDT/SEAL from 1969 to 1973. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Minnesota and, while attending community college, started training to become a professional wrestler. Ventura began his successful professional wrestling career in 1975. In the early to mid '80s, he moved from performing in the ring to color commentator. In 1987, Ventura starred alongside fellow future governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the hit film Predator. He has gone on to be featured in numerous films and television shows, including a fan-favorite appearance on The X-Files playing a "Man in Black." The 1990s saw Ventura enter the political arena, serving as Mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and in 1998 as Governor of Minnesota. After he left office, Ventura was a visiting fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He is a New York Times best-selling author of five books and currently resides in Minnesota and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The Cove is a 2009 American documentary film that describes the annual killing of dolphins in a National Park at Taiji, Wakayama, in Japan from an anti–dolphin-hunting campaigner's point of view. The film highlights the fact that the number of dolphins killed in the Taiji dolphin hunting drive is several times greater than the number of whales killed in the Antarctic, and reports that 23,000 dolphins and porpoises are killed in Japan every year in the country's whaling industry. The migrating dolphins are herded into a hidden cove where they are netted and killed by means of spears and knives over the side of small fishing boats.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan's most recent progress report 1,569 cetaceans in Taiji were killed during the 2007 season, including methods other than drive hunting. The Ministry claims that only 1,239 cetaceans were killed by drive hunting, and that a total of 13,080 cetaceans were killed throughout Japan in 2007.
The film was directed by former National Geographic photographer Louie Psihoyos. Portions were filmed secretly during 2007 using underwater microphones and high-definition cameras disguised as rocks.
The documentary won the U.S. Audience Award at the 25th annual Sundance Film Festival in January 2009. It was selected out of the 879 submissions in the category. On March 7, 2010, The Cove won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 82nd Academy Awards.
Allegation of Inaccuracy
Certain individuals have accused the film of fabricating evidence to support the stance of the filmmakers. The assistant chief of the whaling division at Japan´s Fisheries Agency Hideki Moronuki is portrayed as having been fired in the movie. However Moronuki was not fired, and is still working for Japan´s Fisheries Agency.
Mercury Concerns
Since 2000, Japanese researchers, such as Tetsuya Endo, a professor at the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, have found high concentrations of mercury, which can cause mercury poisoning, in the whale and dolphin meat sold around Japan. In their studies, Taiji residents who eat whale/dolphin meat had high levels of mercury in their hair. Whale meat contaminated with mercury is commonly eaten in the town, and residents have been found to have 10 times the level of mercury in their hair when compared to average Japanese citizens. In June 2008, AERA, a Japanese weekly journal, reported that the whale and dolphin meat sold in Taiji contained a level of mercury 160 times higher than normal, and that the hair of a local sample of eight men and women had 40 times higher mercury levels, based on a research conducted by the National Institute for Minamata Disease (NIMD). The NIMD published the full data of the research online a few days later, and explained it in detail to avoid misrepresentation of the research results. It has pointed out that the amount of methyl mercury, which causes neurological damage, was not exceedingly high, and the mercury in hair showed rapid decrease since tests carried out by other institutions a few months later on the same people. NIMD further offered to help monitor the health of Taiji residents. The NIMD has checked more than 1,000 Taiji residents since last year, and no sign of Minamata disease (mercury poisoning) has been reported.
Two Taiji councilmen, whose interview published in the Japan Times in 2007, appeared in The Cove to point out the danger of having dolphin meat in the school lunch program due to the risk of mercury poisoning, which is particularly harmful to children and pregnant women. 150 kg of dolphin meat was donated by the local fishers and served in schools in October 2006. The local, tainted dolphin meat was not served in schools before, or after. However, the councilmen continue to support the hunting of dolphins, and one of them said "it is annoying to be used in such a movie which intends to stop the hunting", adding "I think we [were] abused."
In 2010, hair samples from 1,137 Taiji residents were tested for mercury by the National Institute for Minimata Disease. The average amount of methyl mercury found in the hair samples was 11.0 parts per million for men and 6.63 ppm for women, compared with an average of 2.47 ppm for men and 1.64 ppm for women in tests conducted in 14 other locations in Japan. One hundred eighty-two Taiji residents showing extremely high mercury levels underwent further medical testing to check for symptoms of mercury poisoning. None of the Taiji residents, however, displayed any of the traditional symptoms of mercury poisoning, according to the Institute. Japan's National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, however, reports that the mortality rate for Taiji and nearby Koazagawa, where dolphin meat is also consumed, is over 50% higher than the rate for similarly-sized villages throughout Japan.

Cosmos: A Personal Voyage is a thirteen-part television series written by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steven Soter, with Sagan as presenter. It was executive-produced by Adrian Malone, produced by David Kennard, Geoffrey Haines-Stiles and Gregory Andorfer, and directed by the producers and David Oyster, Richard Wells, Tom Weidlinger, and others. It covered a wide range of scientific subjects including the origin of life and a perspective of our place in the universe.
The series was first broadcast by the Public Broadcasting Service in 1980, and was the most widely watched series in the history of American public television until The Civil War (1990). I believe some of these work to be of shamanic influence but not all. There are some sculptures, drawings, carvings, architecture and buildings that are beyond the Shaman influence even though the idea and knowledge is there. I for one do visit a Shaman once in awhile in times of trouble or to seek advice.
