As we originally noted and has been mentioned by a number of electronic image experts, one of the most glaring details demonstrating Obama's purported birth certificate is a fraud is the presence of digital artifacts.

Digital images often contain unwanted information known as artifacts. In the blow up below of Obama's supposed birth certificate, we can see digital artifacts as areas of white outlining text and graphical elements on the page. I brought a capture of the original PDF into Photoshop and enlarged it and increased the contrast in order to show the artifacts.

Artifacts are created as the result of lossy compression techniques. So-called "lossy" compression is a data encoding method which compresses data by discarding or losing some of it in order to reduce image file size.

Alternately, the white areas may be the result of a sloppy effort to eliminate a white background on the scanned image of the certificate and drop it over the green textured background. In Photoshop and similar image editing programs, it is possible to select areas based on color or contrast and eliminate those areas and make them transparent so a background image shows through. The process is far from perfect, especially when attempted by an inexperienced Photoshop user. It can leave behind telltale artifacts or jagged areas of original pixels, in this case white pixels from the original background.

As a long time user of Photoshop and Illustrator, I believe the second explanation is the likely reason there are white areas around the text and lines. It is a sloppy effort to eliminate a background.

As previously noted, the document is problematic in other ways. There are obvious text font inconsistencies, most notably in regard to the date in the "Date Accepted by Local Reg." field near the bottom of the document. The number "1" in the year "1961" is darker than the rest of the date.

The letter "e" at the end of "none" in the "Type of Occupation Outside Home During Pregnancy" is also darker and slightly slanted, which is different than the same letter elsewhere in the document, indicating it was either added later with a typewriter of computer. This letter is included in one of the layers when the PDF is imported into Adobe Illustrator.

The date and state registrar stamps at the bottom of the document also break out in separate layers, indicating they were likely added and are not part of an original document as one would expect of an official document.

Other oddities add to the mystery of the document, including "X" marks above the "Twin" and "Triplet" in "This Birth" box. As far as we know, Obama is not a twin or triplet.

Finally, the document does not contain an official imprint seal, as we see on other certificate of live birth documents (see the example from an article we posted yesterday).

Although intended to be sarcastic commentary on the "birthers," BuzzFeed has a list of most of the document's anomalies.

Now that we have established that the document is an obvious forgery, we should ask why Obama's people would release as definitive proof of his citizenship such an easily debunked fraud.

Is it possible Obama's people are so incompetent and lazy as to release a document that was torn apart soon after it was released by people who know what to look for?

Or was this obvious fraud released simply to keep the debate and the political circus sideshow going?

Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission said that 51 websites in the .gov.my domain were attacked beginning late Wednesday, and that 41 of the sites suffered various levels of disruption.

The MCMC, the country's Internet and telecommunications regulator, did not however provide information on the nature of the attacks, or the people behind it, describing them only as "unknown hackers".

However, it made references to some of the websites recovering quickly, suggesting that these sites faced a DDoS or distributed denial-of-service attack rather than a hack.

DDoS attacks can make a website inaccessible to users by swamping the website with traffic from hundreds or thousands of computers.

Such attacks are a known tactic of Anonymous, a hacker group that had threatened to attack Malaysia.

The MCMC had noticed a reduction in the levels of attack by 4 a.m. local time Thursday, it said. The attacks had little effect on Malaysian users, and most of the websites have already recovered, it said.

"We do not expect the overall recovery to these websites to take long," it said. "The public is advised to report any information they may have regarding the identity of these hackers as the act to disrupt network services is a serious offence," it said.

Anonymous has used various online forums to threaten Malaysia with an attack in protest against the government's decision to block 10 websites that reportedly allowed the download of pirated content. Earlier this week, Anonymous invited people to join Operation Malaysia, targeting a government website from 7.30 p.m. GMT on Wednesday (3.30 a.m. Thursday, local time).

Biography
Robert Orel Dean (born 1929), also known as Bob Dean, is a retired Command Sergeant Major in the US Army,[1] who became notable in UFOlogy circles after he claimed to have viewed "Cosmic Top Secret" documents detailing alien activity on Earth. He now lectures in ufology around the world and has been described as 'an elder statesman of the UFO community'.

Dean is also notable for having successfully sued his employer under anti-discrimination laws on the ground that they were treating him unfairly because of his belief in UFOs.

Academic
Dean majored in ancient history, psychology, and philosophy at Indiana University, completed extensive studies in archeology and theology and holds the equivalent of a masters level degree in Emergency Management

Army Service
Dean served in the army for 27 years. He fought as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1963, Dean was assigned to SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) which at that time was just outside Paris (it later would be relocated to Mons, Belgium).

Alleged NATO document on UFOs − “An Assessment”
In 1964, a USAF colonel, Col. Frank Collins, gave Dean, a Command Master Sergeant, access to a copy of a document called An Assessment. Dean stated that there were only 15 copies, one of which was kept in the safe. He said to read it every chance he had, being able to access the document because he had Cosmic Top Secret Clearance,[11] As would be expected in the case of such a high-security classified document, Dean has been unable to provide a copy to prove his recount.

Dean states the document An Assessment: An Evaluation of a Possible Threat to Allied Forces in Europe (published in 1964) was a one and a half inch-thick secret NATO report on UFOs. The document was accompanied by eight and a half inches of Annexes and Appendices.

The report was ordered to be compiled by British Air Marshall Sir Thomas Geoffrey Pike, Deputy SACEUR (Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe) from August 1963 until his retirement in 1967. It was prompted by a Red Alert event that allegedly happened on 2 February 1961 at 0200 hrs. A formation of approximately 50 flying disc-shaped objects flew at very high altitudes and speeds under intelligent control. They came from the east, flew over Germany, France, England and continued north until they disappeared over the Norwegian sea.

The titles of some of the annexes of the report, Dean states, were as follows: Radar and Electromagnetic Effects, Optical and Light Analysis, Photographic and Holographic Analysis, Historical Research and Historical Evidence, Metallurgical and Technical Analysis, Atmospheric Physics and Meteorology, Biological Analysis and Autopsies, Sociological Problems, Psychological Problems, Theological Implications, and Worldwide Effects.[citation needed.

"The Assessment" concluded, in 1964, that there were four different extraterrestrial civilizations visiting Earth[13], but by Dean’s retirement from the military in 1976, he claims, the report stated that there were at least twelve different extraterrestrial civilizations visiting Earth.

Career after retirement from the military
After retiring from the military in 1976, Dean worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency until his retirement in 1996. Dean became the former Arizona Assistant Director and Pima County Director for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and is a former member for Center for UFO studies (CUFOS) and the Ancient Astronauts Society. He also served twelve years as a member of the board of Directors for the Aerial Phenomenon Research Organization (APRO).

Views
Dean is of the belief that the United States government is actively suppressing information about its interaction with alien civilizations, including its possession of alien technology and lifeforms, through disinformation campaigns and secrecy. He has lobbied the US Congress to relax secrecy oath laws of top security and military officials, so that more will be able to comment on UFO-related matters with impunity.

Dean has made numerous television and radio appearances on programs specializing in UFOs and paranormal phenomena in general. On these, he is almost always a sympathetic supporter of the claims of other men and women who come forward with alien related stories or experiences of their own. He also often speaks highly sympathetically of the allegedly exploited aliens themselves, who he claims are being badly mistreated in an inappropriate and disrespectful manner by overly-secretive government officials.

He appeared in the TNT documentary, Faces of Evil, in his role as an expert on Nazi history with special regard to the occult and esoteric practices. He will also appear on the upcoming History Channel special, Nazi Prophecies. Peter has interviewed Nazis, neo-Nazis, Klansmen, Satanists, self-proclaimed witches and occultists, intelligence agents, clergymen, bogus clergymen, businessmen, military officials, and many more during the course of his research for both Unholy Alliance and Sinister Forces.

Joseph P. Farrell has a doctorate in patristics from the University of Oxford, and has published four previous works, all on theology. He recently moved back to his home state of South Dakota, where he pursues research on his other loves and hobbies: classical music (he is an organist, plays the harpsichord, and composes classical music), physics, alternative history and science, and "strange stuff".His book The Giza DeathStar was published in the spring of 2002, and is his first venture into "alternative history and science". The sequel, The Giza Death Star Deployed came out in Spring 2003, and the final book of the Giza Death Star trilogy, The Giza Death Star Destroyed, in 2005. Additionally, he has published two books on Nazi secret weapons, Reich of the Black Sun and The SS Brotherhood of the Bell. His new book, The Cosmic War: Interplanateray Warfare, Modern Physics, and Ancient Texts, will be out in the autumn of 2007, and a sequel to The SS Brotherhood of the Bell will be out in the spring of 2008.
